ABOUT THIS SITE
  • So what is this site, anyway?

My goal for AnimeResearch.com is to make it the most complete resource on research into anime and manga available in English on the Internet.

  • Why did you create this site?

This site grew out of an idea I had for a comprehensive anime and manga bibliography. When I began work on AnimeResearch.com, there were already a couple of other sites such as Mikhail Koulikov's Anime/Manga Web Essays Archive and Rei's Anime and Manga Page that contained academic research on anime and manga, but I wanted to create a site the had information on print resources as well.

  • Who are you?

My name is Brian Ruh. I just finished (in May 2002) my M.A. in Asian Cultures and Langauages at the University of Texas at Austin, where I wrote my thesis on the films of Oshii Mamoru. (I also have a B.A. in Philosophy from Purdue University.) Right now I'm taking some time off from academia to work on some of my own writing. If you're interested, you can view my C.V here.

  • Who designed the site?

That would be the work of my lovely and talented wife Sarah Ruh. You can check out her web page here.
